Mailroom Security Screening Training Workshop

Objective
This one-day workshop, first launched in July 2007, was developed by the Academy to equip mailroom personnel and Home Team (HT) officers with basic awareness and training in mailroom security screening. Participants are trained to recognise telltale indicators of mail threats, use the right techniques and technologies to detect them, and adopt appropriate pre-detection procedures. A key part of the training is on the interpretation of X-ray images, for the purpose of detecting mail threat items, using computer-based X-ray machine simulation software. Participants who are X-ray operators can also opt to undergo certification tests based on standards accredited by the United States Transport Security Administration. The course is made available to non-HT government agencies, statutory boards and private-sector firms at a cost of $400 per participant.
