The Human in Command and Crisis: A Crisis Leadership Workshop

Objective
By its very unpredictable and dynamic nature, the effective prevention or management of a crisis requires the possession of specialized leadership competencies – crisis leadership competencies.

This workshop is borne from a series of research conducted by the Behavioural Sciences Unit on crisis leadership competencies indigenous to the Home Team. Stemming from a series of interviews conducted with members of the HT senior management and insights provided by previous critical incident commanders, this workshop provides an introduction to the Home Team Crisis Leadership Competency Framework developed by the BSU and aims to equip future HT incident managers with the requisite ‘soft’ skills to effectively prevent or manage a crisis. Topics covered include naturalistic decision making, situation awareness and crisis communication.
